🏖️ School breaks, finally clear

Add your district's breaks, split each one in half or alternate it in full, with an automatic flip between even and odd years. Christmas break included.

🤝 One calendar for both households

Each parent sees the same thing, gets a notification on every change, and keeps a record of day swaps. Neutral, factual, calmer.

Everything in one place

Much more than a calendar

↔️

Day swaps, proposed and accepted

Need to trade a Wednesday? Propose the swap in two clicks. Your co-parent accepts, declines or counter-proposes — and the calendar updates itself, with a full history. No more "wait, what did we agree on?"

💵

Shared expenses & a clear balance

Medical bills, glasses, soccer… each parent logs what they paid. Alternly works out who owes what (50/50 or an adjusted share), handles disputes and reimbursements. One balance, not an argument.

📝

Message board

Homework due, school paperwork, a question for your co-parent: a shared thread with checkable tasks and due dates. Dated tasks show up right on the calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Does my co-parent have to have an account?

No. Alternly works great solo: your custody calendar stays accurate and exportable on its own. You can invite your co-parent later with a single link, and both households will see the same schedule.

Does Alternly replace a court order or parenting plan?

No. Alternly organizes your day-to-day parenting time and keeps a history of every change, but it does not replace a custody order, a parenting plan, or legal advice. Think of it as the calendar that carries out the plan you already have.

How are holidays split between two households?

You set the rule once and Alternly alternates the major holidays by even and odd year — one parent has Thanksgiving in even years and the other in odd years, and the same for Christmas and spring break. Federal holidays are shown automatically, and Christmas break that spans two years is handled by the year the break begins.

How much does Alternly cost?

The custody calendar is completely free (schedules, school breaks, holidays, day swaps, inviting your co-parent). Premium features — shared expenses, message board, email reminders and Google/Apple Calendar sync — are $79/year per household (or $8.99/month). One parent pays, and both get access.

Can we track shared expenses for the kids?

Yes. Each parent logs what they paid (medical, school, activities), Alternly calculates the running balance between the two households (50/50 or an adjusted share) and lets you record reimbursements.

How do school breaks and vacations work?

You add your school district's breaks — winter break, spring break, summer — and Alternly splits each one in half or alternates it in full, flipping automatically between even and odd years. Federal holidays appear on the calendar without any setup.

Where is our data stored?

We apply strict data minimization: a child's first name is enough, and no sensitive information is required to build your calendar.

Fewer messages, fewer misunderstandings.
